1. In mid-1940 the Wireless Air Gunners School relocated to the aerodrome. 2. Frank Smith, from Gillingham, England; wireless operator / air gunner Sgt. 3. Hentschel was the first air gunner to achieve this mark. 4. This was an advanced flying training station, mainly for Observers and also Air Gunners . 5. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, graduating at the top of his air gunners 'class. 6. Later in June 1942, a separate badge was introduced for Air Gunners and Flight Engineers. 7. During the war he met Terence Rattigan who was then a wireless operator and air gunner . 8. From 1943 to 1945, he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as an air gunner . 9. Many moved on to Bombing and Gunnery School to qualify as "'Wireless Air Gunners " '. 10. The aircraft could be used for training navigators, bomb-aimers, wireless operators, air gunners and camera operators.
