1. The leading edge, forward of the front spar , was also ply covered. 2. The undercarriage was a single axle unit with the main legs attached at the front spar roots. 3. The all-metal wings were fabric covered behind the front spar and metal-framed control surfaces were also fabric covered. 4. The similarly covered fin and rudder together almost formed a square, its trailing edge over the tailplane's front spar . 5. The main gear was moved behind the front spar , and when retracted filled most of the space between the spars. 6. The undercarriage had a single axle strutted to the fuselage near the front spar and forward to the engine firewall. 7. The wide-track divided main undercarriage had legs mounted on the wing front spar below the innermost interplane struts, braced to the fuselage. 8. There was a wooden fairing behind, through which ran, to the front spar , the cantilever fixed main undercarriage legs, faired and spatted. 9. Starting 1 January 1989 the front spar was changed to a rectangular spar and an outboard drag brace was added, increasing wing rigidity. 10. The wing had a six percent increase in chord, all ahead of the front spar , allowing the 15 percent chord slat to be incorporated.
