Loudon studied at the University of Otago, graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with commendation in 1954. 14. Radical changes were adopted and the first students were accepted into the new Bachelor of Dental Surgery course in 1978. 15. A four-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree was introduced in 1907 with provision for 20-25 students. 16. Its programs include the Bachelor of Dental Surgery and the Bachelor of Oral Health together with a range of postgraduate courses. 17. The Edinburgh Dental School became part of the University of Edinburgh in 1948 and graduates awarded the Bachelor of Dental Surgery ( BDS ). 20. In 1905 the Senate established the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery , and a curriculum of four years'duration was approved for this purpose.
