11. The "'Swansea Constitution Hill Incline Tramway "'operated a cable tramway service on Constitution Hill in Swansea between 1898 and 1902. 12. The service was not profitable and on 26 May 1884 the company was taken over by the Patent Cable Tramways Corporation. 13. In 1881 the Dunedin cable tramway system opened in Dunedin, New Zealand and became the first such system outside San Francisco. 14. Access to the radars was initially by a road built up the side of the mountain, later a cable tramway was built. 15. The cable tramway line opened on 21 December 1887 with the powerhouse located on the north side of Johnston Street, near Brunswick Street. 16. When the MTOC franchise ended in 1916, the entire operation of the Melbourne cable tramway system was handed over to the State government. 17. The company also made steam engines for the Melbourne cable tramway system, for gold mines and sluicing plant, and the Ballarat Woollen Mills. 18.
