11. The exterior is constructed of coursed rubble oolithic limestone with ashlar and a stone slate roof. 12. The main front is of ashlar and the other three sides are covered with thin coursed rubble . 13. The two 1899 painted bluestone kilns, the oldest surviving buildings, are of coursed rubble construction. 14. A crenellated stone wall of coursed rubble encloses it and it is entered by an iron gate. 15. The house is built of local stone in a coursed rubble pattern, with painted milled wood trim. 16. The sandstone blocks used in the construction of Pringle Cottage are generally coursed rubble , with picked faces. 17. The church is large and cruciform, built in coursed rubble limestone with Runcorn red sandstone dressings and bands. 18. The coursed rubble stonework is dressed with sandstone to the hood mouldings, cornice, crosses and window tracery. 19. The picnic shelter consists of concreted coursed rubble stone walls with projecting piers to each corner and the doorways. 20. This method of construction is more refined than that used for the other buildings which are of coursed rubble .
