11. It prefers the steep outer slopes of the reefs amongst gorgonians and black corals. 12. Each gorgonian polyp has eight tentacles which catch plankton and particulate matter that is consumed. 13. Some gorgonians contain algae, or zooxanthellae. 14. The size, shape, and appearance of gorgonians can be correlated with their location. 15. They feed on coral polyps, gorgonians , algae, polychaete worms and small crustaceans. 16. It has also been observed in association with the gorgonian " Acanthogorgia ". 17. The soil bacterium Aspergillus causes waves of mass mortality among gorgonian corals, or sea fans. 18. Some very large formations at the top of the reef and gorgonians in the deeper areas. 19. On the exterior, a large apotropaic Gorgonian mask glares threateningly at the enemies of the state. 20. The tropical waters in the northwestern part of Western Australia, where it lives attached to gorgonians .
