21. The European Convention works on the principle of the mutual recognition and enforcement of orders made in contracting states . 22. The contracting states , the states which are parties to the PCT, constitute the "'International Patent Cooperation Union " '. 23. A requester may request to restrict the claims with respect to one or more, but not all, Contracting States . 24. A translation of a granted European patent must be filed in some EPC Contracting States to avoid loss of right. 25. Provision may also be made in such agreements for bringing them under the jurisdiction of one of the contracting States . 26. A European patent is also non-unitary in that it may be revoked in one Contracting State while maintained in another. 27. The treaty required that all four contracting states strike freely exchangeable gold coins and silver coins according to common specifications. 28. In other Contracting States , no translation needs to be filed, for example in Ireland if the European patent is in English. 29. The Patent Cooperation Treaty provides a unified procedure for filing patent applications to protect inventions in each of its contracting states . 30. Applicants from any contracting state may file a PCT application at the International Bureau in Geneva, subject to national security provisions.
