21. The command post / plotting room is structurally intact and has recently been converted into a gazebo and fernery . 22. In the 1950s the Council constructed a brick nursery and fernery along the Young Street side of the park. 23. The fernery is in clear view across the lawn from the main entrance gate to the Flecker Botanic Gardens. 24. Neither of the structures housing the fernery or the orchid collection is considered to be of cultural heritage significance. 25. The more than 200 varieties of ferns are housed in the Fernery , built in 1899 and renovated in 1994. 26. There is also the Grade 2 listed Victorian fernery which was reopened in 2009 after an 18-month restoration. 27. The Fernery ( constructed in the early 1870s ) and then went to ruins after Mr Duncan lost his fortunes. 28. To the south of the east end of the family wing are the Conservatory, the Fernery and the Showhouse. 29. The grounds retain remnants of the former garden, terracing and fernery and established trees are located around the boundary. 30. The fernery enclosure has a skillion roof with steel truss framing, clad primarily with steel caging panels and shade cloth.
