The compounds that coat a micelle are typically amphiphilic in nature, meaning that micelles may be stable either as droplets of aprotic solvents such as oil in water, or as protic solvents such as water in oil.

Useful adducts of pyridine include pyridine-borane, C 5 H 5 NBH 3 ( melting point 10 11 C ), a mild reducing agent with improved stability relative to NaBH 4 in protic solvents and improved solubility in aprotic organic solvents . scission upon reduction with hydride agents.
23.
Characteristic of a salt-like, or ionic, hydride, it has a high melting point and is not soluble but reactive with all organic and protic solvents; it is soluble and non-reactive with certain molten salts such as lithium fluoride, lithium borohydride, and sodium hydride.

Thanks a lot, that made some things much clearer to me . But smthng still confuses me . I now undstand about this nucleophilic strenght being reduced in protic solvents due to H-bonding ( i know now after i looked up the terms here after your reference about the action of such solvents ), but why is the basic strenght not reduced too . i mean isn't the strenghth of a base also measured by its ability to co-ordinate with a proton . if its lone pair is hindered ( thereby making it a weaker nucleophile evidently ), then why doesn't its ( or does it ) proton abstraction ability decrease hence making it a weaker base according to the definition of a lewis base if i'm not wrong . I'll be really grateful if you can clear my doubts . Thanks mr . . . umm Someguy Preceding contribs ) 11 : 40, 1 June 2008 ( UTC)
