During the voyage, enmity developed between MacKay and Jonathan Thorn, captain of the " Tonquin ". 24. Access to the Tonquin Valley trails can be found about one kilometre before the end of the Mount Edith Cavell Road. 25. Mackay died in the 1811 Battle of Woody Point, that destroyed the " Tonquin " near Vancouver Island. 26. Work began in May 1811 on the sole trading post founded by the " Tonquin ", Fort Astoria. 27.
