31. The octagonal stone font is dated 1662 and the oak communion rail dates from 1717. 32. The interior includes mediaeval slip tiles and communion rails , pulpit and monuments from the 17th century. 33. Also original are the communion table, with doves carved on the legs and the communion rail . 34. The altar, communion rail , Stations of the Cross and pews were all replaced with new furnishings. 35. Other metalwork includes the original Communion rail , moved after Vatican Council II to a side altar. 36. Gothic arched windows line each side and the interior contains a carved oak communion rail and altar. 37. The communion rail was also removed and is stored in the eastern side room ( sacristy ). 38. The chancel includes wide communion rails on three sides, thought to have been used for seated communion. 39. Catholic usage prefers " Communion rail ". 40. There were medieval structures like communion rails , but the various types of screen were much more common.
