31. The site is best known for its 17 kivas , which yielded a large number of murals. 32. Kachina images appeared in murals in kivas , pictographs and petroglyphs of Puebloan people by AD 1300. 33. Ceremonial structures known as kivas were built in proportion to the number of rooms in a pueblo. 34. There are 11 kivas consisting of two types : multi-age looping and two-year looping. 35. The more impressive Pueblo Bonita has 600 rooms and 40 kivas built in stages and rising to four stories. 36. Some kivas are smaller and have a math and science teacher and a language arts and social studies teacher. 37. Acoma also has seven rectangular kivas and a village plaza which serves as the spiritual center for the village. 38. The church rectory was designed in 1898 by Charles Penruddocke William Kivas Band of Band, Burrit & Meredith. 39. There are fourteen kivas at Pueblo del Arroyo, but no great kiva has been found at the site. 40. Upon receiving news that the Pueblos were again building kivas , Trevi�o ordered Franciscan missionaries to begin an investigation.
