1. Johns became Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff in May 2003. 2. He returned to the Ministry of Defence as Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff . 3. Mansfield became Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff for Trade in 1945 and Flag Officer Submarines in November 1946. 4. His next appointment was as Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff ( ACNS ) at Naval Headquarters ( NHQ ). 5. In March 1931 he was appointed Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff , a senior appointment in the Royal Navy. 6. He went on to be commanding officer of the frigate Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff ( Policy ) in September 2015. 7. He served in World War II initially as Commander of 3rd Cruiser Squadron and then as Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff from 1940. 8. After the War he became Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff and then, from 1919, Commander-in-Chief, China Station. 9. He became Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff in October 1936 and appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath in the 1937 Coronation Honours. 10. He also served as Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff ( Operations ) and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff ( Personnel ) in Naval Headquarters.
