1. He has been on the editorial board of The " Journal of Clinical Surgery ". 2. In 1833 he succeeded Prof James Russell as Professor of Clinical Surgery in Edinburgh University. 3. In 1877 he became a professor of clinical surgery . 4. He also lectured in Clinical Surgery at Edinburgh University. 5. He is also a Professor of Clinical Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. 6. Rae did in Edinburgh what Percivall Pott did in London, in establishing the teaching of clinical surgery . 7. He studied and practiced medicine in Lyon, where in 1902 he became a professor of clinical surgery . 8. In 1897 he obtained his medical doctorate, becoming chief of clinical surgery at the H�tel-Dieu during the following year. 9. In 1880 he became a professor of surgical pathology, followed by a professorship in clinical surgery ( 1890 ). 10. In 1885 he was appointed surgeon at University College Hospital, and Emeritus Professor of Clinical Surgery there in 1892.
