1. He returned to New Zealand in 1911 to serve as Director of Artillery . 2. In January 1911 he became Director of Artillery . 3. He was appointed General Director of Artillery and of the Royal School of Artillery. 4. In Italy he soon fell out with the local representative of the Director of Artillery . 5. From April 1871 to January 1876 he was employed in the War Office as assistant director of artillery . 6. He also performed as Director of Military Operations and Director of Artillery in General Staff Branch, Army Headquarters. 7. The Director of Artillery , Brigadier General Stanley von Donop, emphasized the tractor's shortcomings and was unenthusiastic. 8. He was Director of Artillery at the War Office from 1903-04 when he became Quartermaster General for India. 9. A post of Director of Artillery existed over most of the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th. 10. In 1908 Donop was appointed Chief Instructor at the School of Gunnery and in 1911 he was appointed Director of Artillery at the War Office.
