1. It consists of following four strokes : expansion or power stroke, exhaust stroke . 2. The exhaust release point occurs earlier in the power stroke and compression earlier in the exhaust stroke . 3. Next it goes down on the power stroke, then it finally returns up on the exhaust stroke . 4. At very high engine loads, AVCS advances the intake valves further to open even sooner during the exhaust stroke . 5. The spark plug is fired on every stroke, resulting in a wasted spark in the cylinder when on its exhaust stroke . 6. The piston continued its exhaust stroke until top dead center ( TDC ) was reached, but the valve did not close. 7. The 360?twins can have a single ignition system for both cylinders, with a wasted spark on each cylinder's exhaust stroke . 8. The designers consider this to be a five-stroke design, regarding the simultaneous HP exhaust stroke and LP expansion stroke as a single stroke. 9. Some of the pressure created during the exhaust stroke flows into the intake manifold, having the effect of exhaust gas recirculation ( EGR ). 10. On the exhaust stroke the angle of the connecting rod causes it to open the piston valve, allowing expanded steam to exhaust into the crankcase.
