1. The Gumboot was designed, fabricated and installed by Brian Newell. 2. He handed a young boy named Drew a gumboot chiton. 3. Mbuli toured the Rishile Gumboot Dancers of Soweto throughout South Africa and Australia. 4. The gumboot can live for over 40 years. 5. A subgroup developed into the Rishile Poets and later the Rishile Gumboot Dancers of Soweto. 6. The aim of the festival is to break the world record for the longest gumboot throw. 7. Babinda and Tully annually compete for the Golden Gumboot , an award for Australia's wettest town. 8. In Disco, teams had to learn to perform the Gumboot dance with a troupe of African dancers. 9. Most of the shows where they do gumboot dancing, they do it for 10 minutes, five minutes. 10. The gumboot chiton's appearance has led some tidepoolers to fondly refer to it as the " wandering meatloaf ."
