1. The remains from Australia were originally called " Ichthyosaurus australis ". 2. Mary Anning famously found an Ichthyosaurus in the Spittles. 3. Other ichthyosaur fossils showed this feature was not limited to " Ichthyosaurus ". 4. Numerous fossils have been found in the Posidonia Shale of Hondelage, including Ichthyosaurus and Steneosaurus. 5. Some fossils still had baby specimens inside them, indicating that " Ichthyosaurus " was viviparous. 6. Other fossil displays include squid, fish, shells, turtles and the swimming reptiles known as ichthyosaurus and woolungasaurus. 7. "Ichthyosaurus " were smaller than most of their relatives, with individuals measuring up to in length. 8. In 1870, on the foothills of the west side of Teysachaux, a 2-meters long fossilised ichthyosaurus has been discovered. 9. Represented by the " Ophthalmosaurus " and related genera, they were very similar in general build to " Ichthyosaurus ". 10. Baur named " Mixosaurus " as a new genus because its forefin was sufficiently different from that of " Ichthyosaurus ".
