1. Kyanite in metamorphic rocks generally indicates pressures higher than four kilobars.2. In kyanite , this anisotropism can be considered an identifying characteristic. 3. Kyanite is also known as disthene, rhaeticite and cyanite.4. By metamorphic isograd, the Main Central Thrust follows the kyanite isograd. 5. Color varieties include recently discovered orange kyanite from Tanzania. 6. Andalusite is trimorphic with kyanite and sillimanite, being the lower pressure mid temperature polymorph. 7. It occurs as a secondary phase in pegmatites and kyanite ( aluminium-rich ) quartzites. 8. Under this criterion, crystals of kyanite appear upward of several meters from the lithologic change. 9. Kyanite is triclinic, while andalusite and sillimanite are both orthorhombic and belong to the dipyramidal point group.10. Bauxite, Kyanite , Marble, Dolomite, Clay and limestone are the other main minerals of the district.
