1. The patient gradually becomes ill, or becomes ill after a long latent period . 2. No explanation for this long latent period is known. 3. A latent period of decades may elapse between radiation exposure and the detection of cancer. 4. Symptoms appear after a 3-5 week latent period . 5. There appears to be a long latent period between HTLV-1 infection and the start of ATL. 6. Skin cancer may occur following ionizing radiation exposure following a latent period averaging 20 to 40 years. 7. Infections from " B . divergens " have a shorter latent period , usually ranging from one to three weeks. 8.
