All examined show an enrichment in 18 O and depletion in 2 H relative to SMOW and meteoric waters . 8. It is likely that the arid climate of the region reduces the input of meteoric water to the volcanic system. 9. This recharge is typically from rivers or meteoric water ( precipitation ) that percolates into the aquifer through overlying unsaturated materials. 10. A meteoric water line can also be calculated for a given area, and used as a baseline within that area.
