1. Pancreatin contains the pancreatic enzymes trypsin, amylase and lipase. 2. Once in the more neutral duodenum, pancreatic enzymes break down the protective glycoprotein. 3. The major proteases, the pancreatic enzymes which work on proteins, are trypsinogen and chymotrypsinogen. 4. Taken with each meal, it disables certain pancreatic enzymes and reduces fat absorption by some 30 percent. 5. The FDA has only formally approved one brand of pancreatic enzyme , and it is no longer sold. 6. But products claiming to be various pancreatic enzymes also are sold by the largely unregulated dietary supplement industry. 7. "' Procarboxypeptidase "'is a precursor ( zymogen ) to the pancreatic enzyme carboxypeptidase. 8. These can be treated by taking pancreatin which contains manufactured pancreatic enzymes , and is best taken with food. 9. In order for fat or triglyceride to be absorbed it must first be digested by the pancreatic enzyme lipase. 10. The drug, taken with each meal, disables certain pancreatic enzymes and reduces fat absorption by some 30 percent.
