1. Pentamidine is primarily metabolized by Cytochrome P450 enzymes in the liver.2. When injected, pentamidine binds to tissues and proteins in the plasma. 3. Up to 12 % of pentamidine is eliminated in the urine unchanged. 4. Drug of choice is Trimethoprim / sulfamethoxazole, pentamidine , or dapsone. 5. Inhaled pentamidine is mainly deposited into the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of the lungs. 6. Pentamidine is useless for these people.7. Pentamidine can remain in the system for as long as 8 months after the first injection.8. In desperation, we gambled on pentamidine , an antiparasitic drug we had in the hospital pharmacy. 9. But in late 1980 a small but growing number of doctors began requesting pentamidine for their patients. 10.
