Postoperative pericardial effusion is also suspected to be the cause of atrial fibrillation. 4. Electrical alternans with sinus tachycardia is a highly specific sign for large pericardial effusion . 5. A pericardial effusion with enough pressure to adversely affect heart function is called cardiac tamponade. 6. Pleural or pericardial effusions are also reported. 7. Serositis with pleural and pericardial effusions are seen in up to 10 % of these patients. 8. Recurrent pericardial effusion can be a manifestation, as can morphological changes in adrenal size and infiltration. 9. Here it can cause right-sided heart failure, arrhythmias, pericardial effusion , and cardiac tamponade. 10. Pericardial effusion etiologies have changed over time and vary greatly depending on geography and the population in question.
