According to Bergerud in the 1800s and early 1900s, ( Rangifer tarandus ) caribou numbers declined following settlement. 6. Since the 1940s the decline of " Rangifer tarandus caribou " range occupancy in Ontario has been recognized. 7. With its range across North America and depth of history, " Rangifer tarandus " has countless aboriginal names. 8.
