1. Prick warm cake with long-tined fork, completely to bottom of cake. 2. Poke holes in top of warm cake with skewer or long-tined fork. 3. The plates would have been accompanied with small two-or three-tined oyster forks. 4. Serve as chunks or chop it up using cleaver or shred with two long-tined forks. 5. Forks, electric serrated knives, special tined cutters or a strong thread should be used instead. 6. To test for doneness, stick a 2-tined meat fork into the thickest part of the brisket. 7. Sometimes, gadgets with small hollow-tined for specialised jobs such as aerating the lawn are also available. 8. Dummy heads or pick-up headers feature spring-tined pickups, usually attached to a heavy rubber belt. 9. Food was eaten from wooden or pewter trenchers with two-tined forks, large spoons, and hunting knives. 10. By the mid-1700s, the curved four-tined model evolved, proving much more utilitarian than the original design.
