The arachnoid granulations act as one-way valves. 4. The other two meningeal layers are the arachnoid mater and the pia mater. 5. There are some cases where hereditary disorders have been connected with arachnoid cysts. 6. Stems and leaves are finely arachnoid -tomentose becoming glabrous and green with age. 7. The cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the spinal cord is contained by the arachnoid mater. 8. The arachnoid mater is the middle protective layer. 9. But in some rare cases arachnoid cysts have been known to decrease in size. 10. The space between the arachnoid and the underlying pia mater is called the subarachnoid space.
