1. The caruncle promotes the dispersal of the seed by ants ( myrmecochory ). 2. The king vulture has a very noticeable yellow fleshy caruncle on its beak. 3. At the base of the beak and below the wattle is a fleshy caruncle which is whitish. 10. Both the rhinophores and median sensory caruncle are somewhat darker in colour than the rest of the body.
