1. The cold agglutinin detected is of anti-i specificity. 2. This is the case in both cold agglutinin disease and cold paroxysmal hematuria. 3. Individuals with cold agglutinin disease present with signs and symptoms of hemolytic anemia. 4. There are also reports of eculizumab being used to treat cold agglutinin disease. 5. Cold agglutinins , or cold autoantibodies, occur naturally in nearly all individuals.6. In individuals that have cold agglutinin disease, the lifespan of erythrocytes is shortened. 7. In chronic cold agglutinin disease, the patient is more symptomatic during the colder months. 8. Rheumatoid factor, cryoglobulins, direct antiglobulin test and cold agglutinin titre results can be positive. 9. This is seen in Waldenstr�m's macroglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease and Infection with Mycoplasma Pneumonia. 10. Tests revealed no structural heart defects, and after some deliberations the possibility of cold agglutinin disease is raised.
