1. Disulfiram should be used in conjunction with counseling and support.2. It consists of the antiparasitic insecticides benzyl benzoate and disulfiram . 3. Cases of disulfiram neurotoxicity have also occurred, causing extrapyramidal and other symptoms. 4. Like disulfiram , it can produce an unpleasant reaction when consumed with alcohol. 5. It is formed in the liver after disulfiram treatment. 6. Sertraline concentrate contains alcohol, and is therefore contraindicated with disulfiram ( Antabuse ). 7. ALDH1 is strongly inhibited by disulfiram , while ALDH2 is resistant to its effect. 8. Several cephalosporins are associated with hypoprothrombinemia and a disulfiram -like reaction with ethanol. 9. The only other drug approved by the FDA is disulfiram , better known as Antabuse. 10. Disulfiram should not be taken if alcohol has been consumed in the last 12 hours.
