1. Cycads form their microsporangia on microsporophylls which are aggregated into strobili. 2. Extending out from a central axis are microsporophylls ( modified leaves ). 3. Under each microsporophyll is one or several microsporangia ( pollen sacs ). 4. Each triangular microsporophyll has two basal pollen producing pollen sacs. 5. The microsporophylls are triangular and keeled, bearing two pollen sacs each. 6. Each pollen cone has numerous spirally inserted microsporophylls . 7. A pollen cone consists of a slender rachis with numerous spirally arranged microsporophylls around it. 8. Each pollen cone has numerous spirally inserted microsporophylls each with two basal pollen sacs producing bisaccate pollen. 9. In heterosporous members, megasporophylls and microsporophylls may be intermixed or separated in a variety of patterns. 10. A pollen cone consists of many spirally arranged microsporophylls each with two pollen sacs producing bisaccate pollen.
