1. Worldwide, pediculosis pubis affects about 2 % of the population. 2. Infestation of the eyelashes is referred to as pediculosis ciliaris or phthiriasis palpebrarum. 3. The only agents approved by the FDA for treatment of pediculosis are lindane and malathion. 4. In contrast to diseases such as measles or influenza, pediculosis does not inherently prevent school attendance. 5. Ivermectin ( which can be given orally ) has been shown to reduce levels of FDA for pediculosis . 6. The species may also live on other areas with hair, including the eyelashes, causing pediculosis ciliaris. 7.
