1. Phyllite is commonly found in the Dalradian metasediments of northwest Arran.2. Schist forms at a higher temperature and has larger grains than phyllite . 3. Phyllite has good fissility ( a tendency to split into sheets ).4. During the Phyllite Zone of Crete date back to the Middle Permian. 5. Basement rocks consist of Ordovician clastic sediments consisting of phyllite with some sandstone interbedding. 6. The Alpine Schist of New Zealand is characterised by heavily crenulated and sheared phyllite . 7. Slate, phyllite and sandstone are most common. 8. Underneath the sparagmite layer, lies a layer of extremely nutritious slate, called phyllite . 9. The rocks in the Mal�guide thrust sheet include phyllite , metagreywacke, limestone, metaconglomerate. 10. The highly shortened and foliated phyllite began as a mudstone which was metamorphosed to shale.
