1. The subscapular nerves are innervated by the posterior division of the brachial plexus. 2. These are distal to the upper subscapular nerve. 3. The lower subscapular nerve contains two branches. 4. This includes the abdominal area, the subscapular region, arms, buttocks and thighs. 5. The costal or ventral surface of the scapula presents a broad concavity, the subscapular fossa. 6. The upper subscapular nerve inserts directly into the upper portion of the subscapularis muscle, thus innervating it. 7. Other tributaries include the subscapular vein, circumflex humeral vein, lateral thoracic vein and thoraco-acromial vein. 8. It is supplied primarily by the lower subscapular nerve and additionally by the thoracodorsal nerve ( middle subscapular nerve ). 9. It is supplied primarily by the lower subscapular nerve and additionally by the thoracodorsal nerve ( middle subscapular nerve ). 10. It can be associated with dullness to percussion over the left subscapular area due to compression of the left lung base.
