1. Other Percutaneous procedures beside balloon valvuloplasty for MS have been looked into. 2. The traditional treatment of congenital aortic stenosis is balloon valvuloplasty or surgical commissurotomy. 3. Valvuloplasty is an important part of the procedure to deploy a percutaneous aortic valve.4. The treatment is usually by surgery ( tricuspid valve replacement ) or percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty . 5. The resultant tricuspid regurgitation from percutaneous treatment is better tolerated than insufficiency occurring during mitral valvuloplasty 6. Manjunath is reported to have been the innovator of a new method of balloon mitral valvuloplasty . 7. The first Mitral valvuloplasty was done here as well in 1988, three years after its introduction. 8. To determine which patients would benefit from percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty , a scoring system has been developed. 9. The indication for invasive treatment with either a mitral valve replacement or valvuloplasty is NYHA functional class III or IV symptoms. 10. Recent improvements in both balloon technology and procedural technique may lead to a resurgence in the clinical application of balloon valvuloplasty .
